I have always been an animal lover and I have always had dogs in my home. From a young age, I knew I wanted to make a career out of my passion for animals and so I attended the University of Guelph to study animal biology. During my undergraduate degree, I fell in love with nutrition and decided to pursue a Masters degree in animal nutrition.
My MSc degree focused on feeding frequency in cats and which feeding regimen was best for them. I investigated the effects of feeding one or four meals daily on appetite-regulating hormones, amino acids, physical activity and energy expenditure. Whilst studying animal nutrition, I trained two service dogs to work with children with autism. One dog went on to become an autism service dog and the other became a full-time pet (mine!). In the past few years, I have become a huge advocate for sustainability and I have been trying my best to choose more low waste and sustainable options.
Hope Pet Foods really ties together both of my passions in finding a more sustainable way to feed our pets whilst giving them the complete and balanced nutrition they need to live a happy life.
